Liam Payne reveals text he sent his dad after being put in One Direction as band celebrate ten year anniversary
LIAM Payne has revealed the text he sent to his dad ten years ago after being put into One Direction, ahead of the group's 10th anniversary.
The singer, 26, looks back on his time in the group fondly and delighted fans with the small insight into its history.
His text simply read: "Im in a boyband."
Beside it, he shared a black and white snap of the fresh-faced band jumping for joy.
He wrote: "What a journey… I had no idea what we were in for when I sent this text to my Dad ten years ago at this exact time the band was formed.
"Thanks to everyone that’s supported us over the years and thanks to the boys for sharing this with me ."
Yesterday the official One Direction account tweeted for the first time in two years promising a "big announcement" today on their ten-year anniversary.
A post teased: "Tomorrow! You and me got a whole lot of history #10YearsOf1D."
It's a decade since Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik formed on The X Factor.
After they became the biggest boyband on the planet, Zayn quit the group in 2015.
The next year, 1D revealed they would be going on a hiatus as the boys tried going solo.
They've all released their own music and toured around the world after leaving behind their former band members.
Fans are hoping the announcement will be they're getting back together as a complete five-piece.
One said: "This will easily be the best week of 2020."
Another begged: "Come back i’ve missed you."
Someone else worried: "I just hope it doesn't come down to just a tweet thanking the fandom, because we've been waiting for some kind of hope for 4 years."
