The Geordie Shore star said the couple had been through enough already

Vicky Pattison has said the McCanns should be left alone and not judged any more

She wrote: “Sharon Osbourne caused a stir when she branded Gerry and Kate McCann ‘insane’ for leaving their daughter Maddie alone in Portugal nine years ago.

“It’s hard for me to have an opinion as I’m not a parent but I do feel discussing the issue after what the McCanns have been through is just unnecessary.

“I bet there’s not a day that goes by where they don’t beat themselves up over what happened. Surely nothing Sharon – or anyone else – can say can make them feel any worse.

“I think everyone should just back off!”

Sharon Osbourne was slammed last week after she said the McCanns were “insane” for leaving their daughter alone.

Maddie, then three, vanished from an apartment in Praia da Luz, Portugal in May 2007 after being left there by Kate and Gerry while they dined with friends at a nearby tapas bar.

Sharon's comments about the McCann's caused outrage

Sharon told US chat show The Talk: “They left their baby in the room sleeping . . . while they went to dinner in the restaurant.

“While they were in the resort their baby was taken. And it is like, ‘Oh but we can see everything that is going on’. It is like insane.”

“It is like so many things happen in just a second. If you leave a candle on and the curtain blows on it and it caught on fire.

“And I think of all these scenarios in my head and there is no way in a million years that you would ever do that.”

: “It’s very disappointing when someone with such a high profile makes this sort of ignorant, ill-informed comment.

“She should think about the effect it could have on Madeline’s brother and sister, as well as the wider family.”

But Katie Price came out in defence of Sharon and agreed with every word she said.

Speaking on Loose Women, she said: “Well for number one, I am on Sharon’s side. Doesn’t matter who you are, you do not leave your children.”

She then added: “In what right mind would you leave your kids alone? Doctors or not doctors, you do not leave your kids in a room.”
