Wedding nightmare

The Voice star Bo Bruce to wed in secret so estranged dad Lord Cardigan can’t attend

Singer and aristocrat father haven’t spoken since 2005

FORMER reality TV star Bo Bruce has not spoken to her dad in 11 years following his split with her late mother and she is now reportedly going to great lengths to keep him away when she ties the knot.

Bo – who came second in the first series of The Voice back in 2012 – is due to marry music producer Henry Binns, 44, at her family church this weekend.

While a church wedding is a public ceremony and anyone can attend, most of the celebrations will be held at a secret location unknown to Lord Cardigan.

The day is sure to prove emotional enough as the country church in Savernake is where Bo’s late mother, cookery writer Rosamond Winkley, Countess of Cardigan, is buried.

Rev Michael McHugh, team rector at St Katharine’s Church said: “There is a legal situation, which is that, by definition, a church service is a public event and so no one can be barred from it.

“There will be private business. A lot of the service will not be held in the church. It will just be the legal bits we do in the church.

He added to the MailOnline: “The obvious reason they have chosen St Katharine’s is because Bo’s mother is buried there. It is the family church. They would want to maintain the connection.”

Bo – whose full name is Lady Catherine Brudenell-Bruce – was left broken hearted after her mum passed away at age 63 in 2012.
At the time she said of her dad: “I have no parents. That [relationship] was never going to be.”

The 31-year-old once vandalised his car and later obtained a restraining order against him, after he threatened to give “untrue tasty dirt” about her to a newspaper.

She was mentored on the BBC talent show by Danny O’Donoghue, who fronts band The Script.

Despite losing out on the winner’s title to Leanne Mitchell, she went on to sign a record deal with Universal Music.

While her debut album Before I Sleep reached the Top Ten, she was later dropped and blasted the label for not promoting her enough.

Reflecting on that time, Bo told The Sun:“I’d been fighting with my record label after they didn’t bother doing any promo for my last single Alive and then they tried to put out another single without any back-up.

“So I put a stop to it going out, pulled the video and said that it is not being released if you won’t work for me properly.

“I have no idea how I lasted so long without anyone championing me.”

A source added: “X Factor have a history of supporting their talent and helping them.

“But Bo failed to hear anything from BBC producers after the show finished.”
