‘What remains is a huge amount of love and respect’: Calvin Harris releases statement after his split from Taylor Swift
CALVIN Harris has released a statement following his split from Taylor Swift.
The news broke this week that the couple had ended their 15-month romance amid rumours he was "jealous" of her success.
Taking to Twitter, the hitmaker wrote: "The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect."
Taylor later retweeted his confirmation of their split.
Friends of the "devastated" couple have told how the pair are on "different paths" which led to their split.
Sources close to Calvin - real name Adam Wiles - insist he was "in love" with Taylor but sees his dance music career as his priority.
A pal said: "Taylor ended things as she could feel their relationship wasn't heading in the right direction.
"She discovered that they were on different paths in the last few weeks.
"It wasn't that they weren't happy, but when she raised the subject of their future it became clear they do not want the same thing at the same time.
"He absolutely adored their time together, but being a devoted boyfriend is difficult to fit in with being the biggest DJ on the planet.
"He also loved having his own home in LA and didn't want to move in full-time together. He loved his own space.
"Taylor is heart-broken She always saw herself as a young mum. It's not that she's in a rush to settle down or anything. But she doesn't want to waste time either."
Meanwhile, a source close to Taylor, 26, has told magazine that Calvin, 32, ended things with the Shake it Off singer because he was "intimidated" by her success.
A source said: "[Harris] said on multiple occasions that he was intimidated by Taylor, which is why he would not attend any events where she was being honoured, or any award shows unless he was nominated."
However, the pair are both extremely successful in their own rights with Taylor banking a reported £69million ($100million) last year and Calvin topping the highest-paid DJs in the world list last year after pulling in £45million ($66million).
The insider said: "It was a case of them naturally going their separate ways.
"Obviously it's devastating for them because they had planned a future together.
"But there is nothing sinister behind it. There's certainly no other relationship going on from either side."

The news has come as a shock to fans, especially after Taylor only recently gushed in Vogue magazine that their relationship was “magical”.
And in early April she singled him out as she made an acceptance speech at the iHeart Radio awards.
She said: "For the first time, I had the most amazing person to come home to when the spotlight went out and when the crowds were all gone. So I want to thank my boyfriend Adam for that."
The split comes just two weeks after Calvin was involved in a dangerous car accident in Los Angeles.
A VW vehicle crossed the centre lane and collided with the vehicle he was riding in as a passenger on 21 May, sending him to hospital.
He pulled out of some concerts in order to recuperate following the incident, but luckily sustained no serious injury.
He later said on Twitter he felt "very lucky and grateful" to have survived the crash.
Taylor, who has previously dated stars including Jake Gyllenhaal, Harry Styles and Taylor Lautner, admitted the attention on her personal life put her off dating for a long time before she met Calvin.
