Johnny Depp and Amber Heard now set to battle over their infamous pet dogs
Pistol and Boo are now at the centre of a custody dispute between the sparring pair
JOHNNY Depp and Amber Heard’s divorce is set to get even messier as the pair battle it out for the custody of their terriers Pistol and Boo.
The two dogs took centre stage earlier this year after Amber, 30, illegally had them ‘smuggled’ into Australia – ending with a court case that saw the couple post a weird apology video praising the country’s quarantine laws.
The now infamous video became the pair’s last public outing as a married couple.
Johnny, 52, since made light of the situation during his press tour of Alice Through the Looking Glass, apologising to UK press for NOT smuggling his dogs into England.
Puppy Pistol was bought for Amber by ex-girlfriend Tasya Van Ree – the same woman Amber ‘married’ in a legally binding domestic partnership in 2008.
It is not known who bought Boo but a source told The Mirror that Johnny treated the dogs “like children” and he is not willing to give them up easily.
They said: “He wants them to be happy and finds it unbelievable she is suggesting dividing them. Money means nothing when it comes to those animals.
“For Johnny, this is war. He’ll stop at nothing to have Pistol and Boo with him.”
Amber filed for divorce from Pirates of the Caribbean star Johnny on 22 May citing ‘irreconcilable differences’ after 15 months of marriage.

The announcement came days after the death of Johnny’s mother, Betty Sue Palmer.
Since then, Amber has gone on to make accusations of Johnny being violent towards her, appearing in court with her face covered in a bruise said to have come from Depp throwing an iPhone at her.
More photos have since emerged of the star with facial injuries, said to have been caused by Johnny in drunken rages during their time together.
She said in court documents: "I live in fear that Johnny will return to the residence unannounced to terrorise me, physically and emotionally."
The Danish Girl actress was then granted a temporary restraining order.
Text messages apparently from Depp’s assistant Stephen Deuters apologising on his behalf after a violent outburst have also leaked online, although Stephen has since claimed they were fake.
Many have been quick to leap to Johnny’s defence, including ex Vanessa Paradis, daughter Lily-Rose Depp and comedian Doug Stanhope.
Amber is now suing Doug after he wrote an open letter to the public accusing her of “threatening to lie about [Johnny] publicly” and calling her a “demon”.
The couple did not get a pre-nuptial agreement before the wedding and Amber is now said to be seeking spousal support.
