JEREMY McConnell has been slammed as "every woman's nightmare" after he publicly denied being the father of Stephanie Davis' unborn baby... again.
The 26-year-old says that there is no way the 23-year-old is carrying his child after she told him that she had come on her period after their split.
But now a mutual pal of the couple has exclusively told The Sun that Jeremy should stop denying paternity, as when the baby is born there will be no doubt that he's the dad.
They said: "For Jeremy to say he isn't the father is going to backfire on him totally.
"He should reign in what he is saying because he will have serious egg on his face when the baby is born."
In the interview with Irish mag TV Now, Jez not only claims that his fragile ex's menstrual cycle means she can't be carrying her baby, but that he will happily take a DNA test when the baby arrives.
He said: "I’m not going to be a dad. If she is pregnant, it’s not mine.
"If I was a dad, I’d be 100 percent no, 110 percent, the best dad in the world.
"But you’ll see in the future that it’s not my kid, and she’ll look like a mug."
The friend told The Sun that Jeremy's behaviour couldn't come at a worse time for the former soap actress - especially given her condition.
They said: "These accusations are causing great stress to Stephanie.
"Treating a pregnant woman like this is totally unfair given all of the changes she is going through.
"Women so early on in their pregnancies are very vulnerable and to publicly attempt to shame Stephanie like this has taken what should be a happy time for her into misery."
Two weeks ago Stephanie - who revealed she was pregnant in a hastily deleted Instagram comment - was admitted to hospital following a huge row with Jez.

Speaking on Twitter, she told her fans that Jeremy - who she also accused of having a "serious cocaine problem" had cancelled on pre-natal medical appointments and had been arguing with her, leaving her needing hospital treatment for stress.
She wrote: "I think it’s disgusting that Jeremy hasn’t turned up to scans and is constantly drunk and partying, the stress he has me under I’ve already been in hospital once with pains and stress.
“I don’t hate the lad I feel very VERY sorry him the fact that no one is getting him the help he needs. His managed should have him rehab and sorting his life out so he can be there for his child before he dies.”
Their war of words escalated, but all has been quiet on social media for the last week - but Jez's comments could spark another vicious spat.
The friend added: "Jeremy has turned into the nightmare of women all around the country fear - if they get pregnant, he may abandon them when they need support the most."
While Steph has been preparing for single motherhood with the support of her family, Jez has been keeping up a hectic personal appearances schedule at nightclubs across the UK.
Steph and Jez got together while filming Celebrity Big Brother in January, and their romance became a national talking point.
The young actress - sacked from Hollyoaks for turning up to work drunk - was in a relationship with male model Sam Reece when she entered the house, but promptly cheated on him with Jez.
Their loved-up antics infuriated their housemates - who also saw red when they began being intimate in the shared bedroom.
One night the couple were seen getting hot and heavy under the covers, prompting other housemates to leave the bedroom due to their loud moans.
A Channel 5 insider told The Sun: "We haven't got infra red cameras so we can't tell for sure, but they were definitely doing more than kissing."
Since leaving the house they struggled to stay together before eventually splitting, with Steph's jealousy issues and Jez's philandering at the heart of many boozy rows.
