Big Brother is back! Two houses, an ‘ominous force’ and a £100,000 prize: Here’s everything you need to know
BIG Brother is set to kick off this week and we have everything you need to know about the new series which producers promise is going to be a "brand new game".
While there's set to be plenty of new features and TWO Big Brother houses, the hosts haven't changed and Emma Willis will present the main show while Rylan Clark-Neal will return to Big Brother's Bit On The Side.
Emma revealed: "There are going to be some quite game-changing twists and changes to the series this summer that we have never seen before.
"As a massive Big Brother fan, that makes me feel excited for what's about to come."
Rylan added: "It's like starting a whole new job this year. Without giving it away, we've got a whole new concept and I'm really excited to see how it works with the housemates. It's almost a brand new game."
The contestants have gone into hiding so Channel 5 have teased a bit more about what viewers can expect.
Two Houses
The Sun reported last month that there would be two Big Brother houses this year and the news was confirmed by Rylan yesterday.
He also revealed there will be two sets of contestants with The Housemates and The Others.
Taking to Twitter, he told his 1.35million followers: “The game is changing and THE OTHERS are coming.
“A new set of Housemates will enter a new game.
“But they won’t be alone. For the first time ever, Big Brother has TWO HOUSES.”
The first pictures of the Big Brother house were released yesterday but it's unclear which house it is.
Earlier this year, it emerged that creators had applied for planning permission to expand the Big Brother site.
The plans showed lots of exciting features like an outside stage, eviction studio and a seating area for an audience as well as a huge extension.
With neon lights, a black and white theme and a revamped outdoor area the house has been given quite the facelift.
The living room slash dining room is a mix of monochrome details and brightly coloured furniture with yellow sofas and chairs.
There are lots of monochrome cushions, bright pink Ottomans and black, white and yellow dishes on the black dining table.
It looks a fun space with bright lights, walls that feature black and pink graphics and a stairs with neon lights.
The bathroom looks glamorous with luxe marble counter tops and sinks and has an outdoor feel with lots of greenery.
Elsewhere, the bedroom has a distinctly 70s vibe with stripped bed spreads, fluorescent ceiling lights and what looks like a multi-coloured bar in the middle of the room.
The garden has also been given a revamp with lots of lounge areas, a jacuzzi and a hot tub.
Twists
There's no set theme this year but don't worry, viewers are still in for plenty of twists.
One of the biggest shocks is that there are two houses but there's a further twist in store for the contestants.
As Rylan revealed: “Neither THE HOUSEMATES nor THE OTHERS are aware that some of them are already connected to each other.
“And these CONNECTIONS could turn both houses upside down. But what are these CONNECTIONS and how will Big Brother use them to keep everyone on their toes.”
A Big Brother insider revealed that The Others are the "ominous force".
A source said: “The Others will be conspiring to target and take down the housemates as they attempt to steal their place in the Big Brother House and secure a chance of winning the £100,000 prize fund.”
With the contestants safely in hiding until the show starts, Channel 5 also teased that it's not going to be an easy ride for The Housemates.
RELATED STORIES
They said: "From Day One the housemates will be under attack from an unseen ominous dark force that will have a dramatic and divisive effect on the house.
"Whilst things may appear to be straightforward, Big Brother will ensure that no-one will have the entire picture.
"There may even be deeper connections at work. The housemates are not alone and they should be prepared for paranoia and suspicion."
The Eye also has a new design and is shattered in the middle which could mean a divide between the contestants or the two houses.
Contestants
So who's going into the Big Brother house?
When rumours first started about the two houses, there were reports that Celebrity Big Brother and civilian Big Brother could be joined together.
Rylan has confirmed that both series are definitely happening this summer but it remains to be seen if the lines are being blurred to create one "super series".
Naturally a few names having be doing the rounds and they include a few familiar faces from other reality TV shows.
Gogglebox's loved hairdressers Stephen Webb, 44, and Chris Steed, 39 are said to be the first pair of reality TV personalities to make the cut.
