Kylie Minogue records theme song for Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie
Aussie star covered This Wheel's On Fire in a secret studio session
I ALREADY know it’s going to be my favourite film of the year and I haven’t even seen it yet.
But now Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie has got even better, as one of my most-loved singers has recorded the classic theme.
I am unbelievably excited to reveal that KYLIE MINOGUE has covered This Wheel’s On Fire, which featured in every episode of the original BBC sitcom.
The Aussie star, whom we've mocked up as Patsy, recorded the song in a secret studio session and Ab Fab writer JENNIFER SAUNDERS was keen to keep her involvement under wraps, just like the scores of cameos in the movie.
The track, a cover of BOB DYLAN’s 1975 song, is now available to pre-order on download — and it doesn’t disappoint.
It will be included in the show’s first feature-length film, in which Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone, played by Jennifer and JOANNA LUMLEY, escape to the French Riviera after shoving KATE MOSS into the Thames.
I revealed the first screen shots from the movie in April and promise to keep you updated with further exclusives regarding the film everyone’s talking about.
JASON DERULO, LA ROUX and PALOMA FAITH have also provided hits for the soundtrack, which will be released on July 1 — the day the flick hits cinemas.
Not letting them get all the fun, it looks like some characters will be having a singsong during the movie.
JULIA SAWALHA, who plays Eddie’s daughter Saffy, has sung a rendition of At Seventeen.
And JANE HORROCKS, who portrays Eddie’s ditzy assistant Bubble and arch-nemesis Katy Grin, will also be breaking out a performance of Big Spender.
Kylie said: “As a huge fan of the Ab Fab series and both Jennifer and Joanna, I’m over the moon to be singing the theme song.”
Such a sweetie, darling.
Tom's tribute
TOM JONES held back the tears as he performed for the first time since the death of his wife Melinda Rose from cancer in April.
At Wednesday’s gig at Hampton Court Palace Festival in South London he sang a new song Long Lost Suitcase, telling the crowd: “Any time I used to record songs I would play them to my wife first to see what she thought.
“She loved this song and so do I, so I would like to do it for you.”
He received a standing ovation before a poignant version of PRINCE’s Kiss.
Only a legend like Tom could do that track justice.

X FACTOR couple STEVI RITCHIE and CHLOE-JASMINE WHICHELLO are planning to walk down the aisle this month – just weeks after they called off their engagement.
I can reveal the duo will fly to Paphos in Cyprus to tie the knot on a luxury yacht on June 30.
A source said: “Stevi and Chloe-Jasmine have been offered a major magazine deal covering all their wedding expenses.
“Guests will be picked up in a limo and whisked over to the yacht for the ceremony before they all pile back to a luxury villa for the reception. No expense is being spared.
“They are trying to keep it a secret so haven’t sent out any physical invitations, but they have been quietly inviting friends and family.
“Of course, they are hoping some of their celebrity pals will come along too.”
I expect SIMON COWELL and CHERYL have already made their excuses.
Stevi and Chloe-Jasmine met on The X Factor back in 2014. They appeared together on Celebrity Big Brother last year but split up in April after a tumultuous 16 months – with pals saying that their relationship had turned “toxic”.
In a statement at the time, a rep for the pair said: “Chloe-Jasmine and Stevi are taking a break due to busy work schedules.”
