The 100 fans brand final season ‘worse than Game of Thrones’ as another beloved character brutally killed off
THE 100 fans have called the show's season finale "ridiculous" as they rail against a beloved character's death.
The CW's popular sci-fi series drew to a close on Wednesday, but fans were left bitterly disappointed with its ending.
In the episode called Blood Giant, Clarke (Eliza Taylor) shockingly turned against Bellamy (Bob Morley) and fatally shot him in the chest.
The two characters were some of the closest in the show and just a few episodes earlier, viewers watched Clarke fall apart after she thought Bellamy had been killed in an explosion.
But fast forward to the show's finale and Clarke decided to shoot Bellamy because he was bound to turn over a sketchbook that proved her adopted daughter, Madi (Lola Flanery) had fragments of the Flame in her mind.
Bellamy was sure to have given the sketchbook to cult leader Cadogan (John Pyper-Ferguson), thus putting Madi in grave danger.
Fans hated that not only that such a popular character died, but that he was killed by his closest companion.
Showrunner Jason Rothenberg defended the decision to kill off Bellamy, but to also confirm that he had in fact, died.
"For 7 seasons, The 100 has been a show about the dark things that humanity will do to survive and the tool those deeds take on our heroes' souls," he wrote on Twitter.
"We knew Bellamy's death had to go to the heart of what the show is all about: Survival. Who you're willing to protect. And who you're willing to sacrifice.
"His loss is devastating, but his life and his endless love for his people will loom large and affect everything that comes after, to the very end of the series finale itself.
"We thank Bob for his beautiful work over these long years and wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
But no amount of explanation could appease fans angry at the death deeming it worse the Game of Thrones' last season.
One Twitter user wrote: "If bellamy’s death was SUCH an important part of the show, make it a sacrifice. let him die a hero. or at LEAST let him be on good terms with the people he loves. what was the reason jason WHAT WAS THE REASON."

While another added: "THE MOST RIDICULOUS CHOICE A TV SHOW HAS EVER MADE.'
And another said: "What a waste of character. Can you imagine building up a character for 7 seasons just to flush all their development in the toilet and then kill them off, for a reason that ultimately amounts to nothing."
Many fans compared it the universally panned final season of HBO's record breaking fantasy drama, Game of Thrones.
One Twitter user wrote: "I am beyond disappointed, infuriated, dismayed and dejected. bellamy blake doesn’t deserve this. such an awful writing and undeniably the worst ending for a season finale that will go down into the television history along with game of thrones."
