Paris Jackson reveals her new tattoos are to hide self-harm scars as she lets go of her dark past

The King of Pop’s daughter said her new inkings represent strength and change

PARIS Jackson has let go of her dark past with a number of new tattoos that she said represent change.

Michael Jackson’s only daughter took to Instagram yesterday to share a photo of herself which shows off her colourful body art on both of her arms.

And the 18-year-old said she had gotten new tattoos to cover up her self-harm and to help her move on.

Paris lost her pop star father in 2009 when he died, aged 50, from cardiac arrest induced by  and  intoxication.

And she took his death badly, turning to self-harm by cutting her arms and in June 2013 she was rushed to hospital following an attempted suicide attempt.

But the teenager seems to be in a much happier place and as she posted her photo, she wrote a message letting her followers know she was stronger but will “always keep fighting”.

She wrote: “The craftsmanship of tattoos will always be a controversy. Some people like them, some people absolutely hate them. I appreciate art, I always have, especially when that art means something to me.

“Today I can look at my inner forearms and see art that has meaning for me, I don't see a dark past anymore. My scars and past of self-hatred have been covered by loving marks, creativity, ingenuity… and depth. Sure I will always carry my past with me, but I see ink as a way of changing for the better, always improving. They represent strength for me.

“I look back at my old self and then I look in the mirror, and I see a fighter looking back at me. I’ll always keep fighting, and encouraging others to stay strong.

“We all go through hell every now and then but it makes us the warriors of love we were meant to be. So to anyone struggling, it gets better. You’re not alone.”

Just a few hours before, she posted a snap of herself in the driver’s seat of a car and wrote: “What if you could go back in time and take all those hours of pain and darkness and replace them with something better - with things that remind you of how beautiful the world can be?”

Paris was just nine-years-old when her father died, leaving her and her two brothers Prince, now 19 and Blanket, now 14 in the care of their grandmother Katherine Jackson.
