‘I can cut you off!’ Rylan Clark-Neal left stunned after husband Dan calls into This Morning under a different name
He took part in the phone-in about how winning arguments makes for a happy marriage
IT’S not often that Rylan Clark-Neal is left speechless - until his husband tries to shame him on live national TV.
The This Morning host was stunned when his other half Dan Neal called into the show’s phone-in today and Rylan didn’t even recognise him!
Rylan and co-host Holly Willoughby opened the lines to their viewers and today’s topic of debate was based on author Barbara Taylor-Bradford claiming that the secret to a happy marriage is to let her husband win every argument or to at least let him think he has.
Ryan said, “No, not having that Barb,” before they started to take calls from viewers who wanted to share their secrets to a long and happy union.
And first up was Sam, who Holly introduced and who said: “Yes, I do agree with Barbara, I let my husband think he’s always right but what he doesn’t realise is that it’s me that wins the argument because I’m the one that’s really right, I just let him think it’s him.
“It’s called a double bluff, Holly and it works very, very well.”
Rylan at first didn’t even recognise his other half’s voice and actually nodded in agreement when ‘Sam’ said he was the one who actually wins.
Rylan continued to seem oblivious and when ‘Sam’ told him that deep down he knows his husband is always right.

To which Rylan replied, “Don’t start, I can cut you off this call!”
Then Holly looked as though she had cottoned on – or recognised Dan at least as she asked him if ‘Sam’ was his real name.
Rylan then opened his mouth in shock when ‘Sam’ said: “No Holly, it’s Dan on the line. Someone told me that Rylan’s been piping up all morning saying that he always wins the arguments. He is the worst person to argue with.
“I’ve never detested arguing with anybody before in my life as much as I detest arguing with him. He doesn’t back down!”
Once Dan had ended his call, Holly laughed at Rylan for asking Dan if he “was indoors” to which Rylan replied: “D’you know what’s worse? I can’t believe I didn’t realise that was my husband. How did I not even know that?
“I’m sitting there thinking, ‘oh his voice sounds a bit familiar’, then I was like, ‘oh, it’s a gay couple, that’s nice’ and then actually, I’m in that gay couple.”
Dan later took to his Twitter page and wrote: “GOTCHA @Rylan – and for the record, you are NEVER right and you know it!”
