AFTER being instantly charmed during their first meeting, this is the moment Taylor Swift decided her future lay with Tom Hiddleston and not her then boyfriend Calvin Harris.
The Night Manager star and Shake It Off singer “clicked” at a private dinner hosted by Anna Wintour the night before the Met Gala on May 1.
Taylor, 26, stared longingly at the actor, who at 35 is nine years her senior, tipped to be the next James Bond as he exited the Vogue editor’s mansion with fellow Brit actor Idris Elba.
And the next night at the main event she made her affections clear, according to guests at the annual fundraising ball for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the pair were pictured dancing together.
One fellow Met attendee revealed: “The courtship between Taylor and Tom began the night of the Met Gala.”Today The Sun can also reveal that Taylor dumped Calvin – who was recuperating from a serious car accident – by phone within weeks of the meeting.
They were last pictured together on May 20, returning from a romantic Caribbean getaway together. She had described their romance as “magical” in a recent Vogue interview.
A well-placed source told us: “Things had not been right between Calvin and Taylor for some time. She met Tom and was swept off her feet.
“He made it very clear how interested in her he was. They swapped numbers and got chatting.
After Taylor ended things with Calvin, he sent her flowers and they agreed to meet up.
“Nothing happened before things were officially over with Calvin, but let’s just say Taylor was hardly broken hearted.”
Calvin Harris has been left “furious and embarrassed” about the revelations and has cut Taylor out of his life altogether.
Last night a friend of the Scottish dance star said: “Taylor will now be exposed for what she really is.”
The fallout comes a day after The Sun stunned the entertainment world by revealing Taylor was secretly romancing Tom as we pictured the pair kissing during a romantic day out on a beach in the US state of Rhodes Island.
Yesterday rival publications tried to claim the pictures had been set up by Taylor to drum up publicity but we can confirm they are completely genuine and authentic.
We had been looking into the relationship between Taylor and Tom for a number of weeks after we were the only publication in the world to correctly report it was her who dumped Calvin, not the other way around.
Our source disclosed: “There was a lot of incorrect reporting that Calvin had ended things with Taylor, but that wasn’t the case.
“Yes, it was obvious he had cooled on the relationship and he definitely didn’t want to look towards settling down like Taylor did.
“But she ended up calling up Calvin and ending things abruptly. His friends suspect this was because she wanted to immediately move on with Tom.”
Yesterday Capital Radio released a new interview where Tom said of Taylor: “She’s fantastic. I mean, (a) really astonishing artist.
“We met (when) she was co-hosting the Met Gala with Idris Elba, who is an old pal – we worked together on the Thor films.”
Taylor and Calvin announced their split on June 1, just ten days after Calvin was involved in a car crash in Los Angeles just hours before he was due to DJ in Las Vegas.
Incorrect reports suggested Calvin had become “intimidated” by Taylor’s international success.
But in his only public comments since the split, he tweeted: “The only truth here is that a relationship came to an end & what remains is a huge amount of love and respect.”
But Calvin has now removed all traces of his ex-girlfriend on social media as he unfollowed Taylor on Twitter and deleted all their one-year anniversary holiday photos.
He even took things a step further by blocking her fans from his page.
The How Deep is Your Love hitmaker also unfollowed Taylor’s brother Austin.
Since Calvin’s social media clearing, Taylor also removed all traces from her ex-boyfriend from her social media.
