After getting hitched to the 56-year-old sales director, Shareen was hopeful that the matchmakers had found her soulmate.

But long-term singleton Shareen could not hide her disdain for her groom and their disagreement boiled over in a dramatic showdown.

The pair sat down to try and clear the air with Shareen suggesting that the matchmakers had got it wrong, saying that they were not incompatible for many reasons.

She said: "Do you still feel because up until now you have always said you feel the matchmakers have did it right."

David replied: “They got it very right in fundamental things, but I’m just disappointed that we had a weekend away. I was just looking to spend a serious amount of time chatting, I just feel there have been a few lost opportunities.”

Shareen responded: “We’ve had two days together, do you not feel we have spoken over the two days?"

He replied: “You haven’t seemed to want to engage in conversation.”

A frustrated Shareen replied: “Okay, how? When? In fact I would actually disagree. We’ve had 20 hours if not more together.

"I do find you struggle to have deep and meaningful conversations and to show your emotions."

David began to defend his actions saying that he hides behind his walls so he doesn't get hurt, admitting he "doesn't let his vulnerable side be seen easily."

He said: “I’d be leaving myself open to hurt you see, my walls are there to defend my heart or whatever you want to call it. I will show those sides but it takes a bit of time. You probably think I’m closed off.”

It took an emotional turn, a tearful and emotional Shareen wept: “I’ll be honest with you but I feel you are an incredibly closed man.

“And the reason I am crying is because I am hurt because I have been so open and transparent. To match me with a man for me to marry who is so closed – I just don’t know how they didn’t pick that up and see it."

A downcast David concluded: “It takes a lot of trust before I allow my wall to come down."

It looked like the was no way coming back from their disagreement as Shareen made a swift exit and left the room in floods of tears.

The couple did not disappear into the sunset to enjoy marital bliss - instead splitting without remaining friends.

Taking to Twitter, one cynic sniped: "Omg! think Shareen is just after her 15 mins of fame! What is she doing there, David deserves so much better."

Another agreed: "Shareen is awful, I feel so sorry for David he seems so lovely and from the get go she seems to do her upmost to make sure it doesn’t work. Never gave the guy a chance."

A third wrote: "Does Shareen actually know what she wants?"

However, David clearly holds no ill feeling towards his ex-wife, singing her praises in response to one defensive fan.

They'd written: "Shareen is being trolled by cyber bullies far too much for being true to herself, it pains us so much to see it.

"Kindness is for all. Unfortunately they were just not a match, end of. Both are lovely kind people with their own beliefs & mindset."

David asserted: "Totally agree, sad we didn’t better connect but that's life and the risk we accepted coming into this.

"Shareen has many wonderful characteristics & is a kind, positive person, an amazing mother with a good soul.

"She was simply hoping for a more spiritual not a logic thinker I guess."
