Spice Girls planning comeback TV documentary — but without Posh and Sporty
Trio hope to emulate success of Take That's TV smash which paved way for their comeback ten years ago
HERE’S one way to Spice up your telly.
The SPICE GIRLS are in talks to document their highly anticipated comeback in a three-part TV series.
I revealed last year the legendary girlband would be returning for their 20th anniversary without VICTORIA BECKHAM or, more recently MEL C.
But despite being down to a trio, there is still huge interest from fans and now TV bosses.
A TV insider said: “The Spice Girls comeback is the big story in pop so it’s no wonder the girls want to maximise their popularity.
“There is certainly a big audience for it.
“BBC, ITV and Sky will no doubt be fighting it out for the rights.
“The girls are always good value, so there will be plenty of material.”
The girlband want the footage to be based on the recording process for their new material, also including some memories of the glory days.
TAKE THAT filmed a similar documentary for ITV in 2005, which launched their comeback in 2006.
Currently only MEL B, GERI HALLIWELL and EMMA BUNTON are involved but after giving it much thought, the remaining girls have decided against holding auditions to find replacement members.
I think that’s a sensible move.
Plus, hopefully it’ll provide more time for Victoria and Mel C to change their minds.
Maybe a classy TV show will do the trick.
Look who Cheryl’s ex is Chel-seeing
JEAN-BERNARD FERNANDEZ-VERSINI’s love life may already be as dramatic as many reality shows, but it looks as though he could soon be playing it all out on Made In Chelsea.
CHERYL’s ex has become involved in an unlikely love triangle with the E4 telly series’ stars NICOLA HUGHES, left, and ALEX MYTTON.
JB was spotted leaving London’s celeb haunt Chiltern Firehouse with Nicola in the early hours of Wednesday morning, after partying alongside the likes of NAOMI CAMPBELL and PROFESSOR GREEN.
The pair, in a cab, below, went to great lengths to stay low-key, with him roping in club staff to help sneak her out.
That’s no surprise as Nicola is still dating Alex.
A source close to her told my team: “Nicola and Alex are going very strong and the drama is all for the cameraas.
“Their relationship is rock solid.”
I don’t think it will be any more.
Gain of Thrones
THERE’S now an even more pressing reason to stay alive in Game Of Thrones.
The top five cast members of the hit fantasy series have negotiated themselves huge pay rises.
It will see them earn more than £340,000 an episode – double what they currently get.
PETER DINKLAGE, KIT HARINGTON, LENA HEADEY, NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU and EMILIA CLARKE are all on the new deal.
It means that they will now pocket £4.45million for the final two seasons – rather than their £1.1million a series current deal.
Other key actors such as MAISIE WILLIAMS and SOPHIE TURNER, who was recently spotted with rugby hunk DANNY CIPRIANI, will also get a pay hike but their contracts are yet to be finalised.
It comes after they negotiated their pay as a group rather than on their own with their individual agents.
Creator David Benioff claims the series, shown on Sky Atlantic, is likely to end within two seasons.
He said: “I think we’re down to our final 13 episodes after this season.”
Get set for more shock deaths.
Soapbox
IT seems as though Andy’s scheming could soon be over as Dot Cotton makes a shock discovery about the builder during tonight’s episode of EASTENDERS.
Viewers already know that the mysterious Andy is hiding a dark secret and now Dot comes to realise that he is not all that he seems.
While cleaning his clothes, the launderette assistant makes a very incriminating discovery. Has the secret schemer been caught out?
Meanwhile, over on HOLLYOAKS, Reenie McQueen makes her highly anticipated return to the village and prepares to deal with child abuser Pete Buchanan.
I wonder how her family will feel about seeing her.
