EGG HUNT

Piers Morgan forced to explain after Susanna Reid ‘gropes his bum’ on GMB – and pulls out a Scotch Egg

PIERS Morgan tonight offered an explanation to fans after Susanna Reid appeared to grope his bum on Good Morning Britain.

Viewers of the show were alarmed when she leaned over, rummaged around - and pulled out a Scotch egg.

The unfortunate mix-up came courtesy of the split screen in place on many ITV shows to make it look like the stars are side by side.

In fact, they are the regulation two metres away in line with strict coronavirus protocols being enforced on sets.

So while Susanna looked like she was leaning over to touch the Piers posterior, she was in fact doing nothing of the sort.

The 55-year-old presenter posted the footage on Twitter, writing: "This wasn’t how it seemed 🤣🤣🤣🤣."

One viewer replied: "Bet you wish it was."

A second joked: "I hope Susanna followed the Covid guidelines and washed her hands for a good 20 seconds or more."

Another joked: "Kids watching the show would be like 'Mummy what's that woman on the tv doing to that man' lol."

As for the Scotch egg - there as part of a discussion about 'substantial meals' in Tier 2 pubs - it would have been below the desk, not anywhere near Piers' rear.

It has been an eventful few days on Good Morning Britain after the government lifted its longstanding ban on allowing ministers to appear on the show.

On Wednesday health secretary Matt Hancock agreed to appear on air alongside Piers and take the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine.

It was revealed yesterday that the jab will be rolled out across Britain next week - with priority given to the most vulnerable.
