Amanda Holden and Alan Carr to follow in Ant and Dec’s footsteps with new Our DNA Journey show
AMANDA Holden and Alan Carr are just some of the big names who will appear on the popular series, Our DNA Journey.
They'll join hosts Anthony McPartlin and Declan Donnelly on the ITV show which takes celebs on a life changing journey to explore their family history.
Other big names to join the latest season include comedians Rob Beckett and Romesh Ranganathan and sports stars Freddie Flintoff and Jamie Redknapp.
Father and son duo Martin and Roman Kemp will appear together on the show, which sees celebs have their individual DNA examined.
Our DNA Journey explores the celebrities' maternal and paternal bloodlines and hopes to unlock hidden secrets from the past whilst also discovering living relatives they never knew existed.
As Ant and Dec before them, the celebrity pairings will bring with them friendly rivalry and humour throughout the emotionally charged revelations and dramatic twists.
Some highlights from the upcoming season include one celeb's family just missing out on boarding the doomed Titanic and another famous face finds out their ancestor was involved in the biggest robbery of 1840.
Throughout the show, the celebrity pairings are guided along the way by expert genealogists and historians.
The experts use cutting edge DNA technology and hidden genealogy, to unlock mysteries of their family history.
“DNA Journey was such an incredible experience for us. It’s such an emotional rollercoaster of a show and this new series doesn’t disappoint," said Ant & Dec.
Along with Our DNA Journey, the Geordie duo are returning to our screens this winter with a range of exciting programmes including The Story of SM:TV Live and Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway.
The pair got very emotional last year they travelled to the US and Ireland for their two-part special to enable them to find out more about themselves.
They too met relatives they had no clue existed, and were left emotional by some secrets held by their families.
Talking about his experience on the show, Ant said: "I’m a bit of a geek when it comes to historical events, so to get the chance to research our family history using our DNA was too good an opportunity to pass up.
"What we find out is mind-blowing and nothing either of us could ever have imagined. It’s something that will stay with us both forever."

Dec added: "A huge part of this was to find out my heritage, especially on my dad’s side.
"I always thought I knew a fair bit about where I came from but it turns out I was wrong!
"Whilst it was incredible to find out about the past, what was hugely overwhelming was to meet relatives neither of us knew we had. It was a truly amazing experience."
