Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini ‘hires top divorce lawyer’ to go after estranged wife Cheryl’s’ fortune
The French nightclub entrepreneur dumped his previous legal team
JEAN-BERNARD Fernandez-Versini has reportedly hired one of the UK’s top divorce lawyers in an attempt to get a better settlement from estranged wife Cheryl.
The French nightclub entrepreneur fired his previous legal team after they failed to reach an agreement with the former Girls Aloud star.
And, according to the Mirror, this has prompted fears that Jean-Bernard now wants to play hardball and claim a bigger stake to her fortune.
And it has been claimed that the former X Factor judge may have to pay her husband, who she was married to for just over a year, as much as £5 million.
A source close to the star told the Mirror: “One said: “She just wants this settled and to move on with life.
“The legal dispute should have been long finished by now but he clearly wasn’t satisfied with what was on the table and has decided to try a new team.”
The pair separated a year ago but it has taken this long to try and reach a settlement as 35-year-old JB, has refused to accept any offer to settle and walk away.
The source added: “Initially everything was amicable and pleasant, it’s a real shame.
“They had a lovely time together and for a long time a good marriage, which sadly didn’t work out because over time they found they were quite different people.
“She had no idea how different they would turn out to be.”
They married in July 2014 after a whirlwind three months of dating but called time on the marriage in July last year.
Cheryl, who is now is now dating 22-year-old One Direction star Liam Payne, didn’t sign a pre-nuptial agreement with JB before they got hitched, despite being worth an estimated £16 million.
At the time she said she was 'so in love' that she would not countenance a pre-nup which has now left her open to a costly settlement.
