Linda Nolan’s heartache as she reveals her cancer has spread and admits she’s terrified of dying
LINDA Nolan has revealed her heartache as she received news that her cancer had spread to her liver, leaving her terrified of dying.
Following a visit to the oncologist, the star, who has untreatable secondary breast cancer, admitted she sobbed after getting home from the appointment.
Despite coming to terms with the setback in her fight against cancer, which has been going on for 14 years, Linda insists she wants to stay around for as many more Christmases as possible.
The 61-year-old singer told : "[The consultant] turned to me and said the CT scan had shown something on my liver again. I asked if it was cancer and he said yes.
"It's scary, I'm not going to lie. I try to be upbeat and positive but I had a really bad day when I got back."
Putting on a brave face for her sisters, Linda explained that she held it together until a private moment saw her break down in tears.
"I told my sisters I was fine but when I got inside my house, I cried," she said. "I needed to have that cry because I'm scared to death of dying."
Linda's cancer journey began in 2006 with breast cancer, followed by cellulitis and lymphedema in her arm in 2007 and secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.
This March she was delivered the news that her liver was now affected by the cancer and underwent chemotherapy until September.
The star had to wait two months to find out whether or not the treatment had been affective, but unfortunately, more tumours were found.
She's now taking oral chemotherapy, which involves taking 10 tablets a day for as long as she needs to take them.
"I don't want to know if I've got 18 months, two years or whatever," Linda explained of her decision not to get a prognosis. "All I want for Christmas is to be around for a few more Christmases."
Linda stays upbeat and enjoys her freedom by taking her dog Betty Boo, a present from her sister Coleen, for a walk every day.
The star also admitted she's started dating again - after losing her husband Brian in 2007 - and after meting someone via an app, went out for a walk to get to know each other.
Linda is part of the family singing sensation The Nolans, who sold 30 million records worldwide and featured her and sisters Bernie, Anne, Denise, Maureen and Coleen.
The clan have a TV show, At Home with the Nolans, which is currently focusing on Linda and sister Anne's cancer journeys.
