Jamelia fights back the tears as she opens up about ‘racist abuse’ by POLICE
The pop star appeared on Loose Women to share her ordeal
JAMELIA choked back tears on live television today as she told the Loose Women panel about being racially abused in front of her daughters.
The pop star, who is a regular panellist on the ITV chat show, was invited on to speak about her ordeal at the hands of a police officer.
And she said she desperately tried to calm the man down in an attempt to protect her daughters from his vicious tirade.
The pop star took to her Facebook page yesterday morning to share the incident in which said she overtook another car because she was “running late” but was then subjected to a torrent of abuse from the police officer, even after she apologised.
In her post, she wrote: “He then retorted, ‘you lot make me f****** sick’.
“I said ‘can you please not swear in front of my children’, he replied: ‘Oh f*** off you stupid black b****, you lot are sickening’.”
After her Facebook post on the incident went viral, Jamelia told hosts Andrea Mclean, Jane Moore, Coleen Nolan and June Sarpong just how scared she was as she took her girls to school and became the victim of racial slurs.
She explained what had happened to the panel and then got emotional as said: “I overtook him and parked up me car…”
She then paused, took a breath and said: “I’m sorry, I’m still really shaken by what happened, it was just yesterday.”
She asked him not to swear in front of her daughters - Teja, 15, and Tiani, 11 – and added: “The girls were just absolutely astonished. I got really, really scared, scared for myself, scared for my girls.

“My little girls did not deserve to go through that.”
Jamelia then told her hosts that she just assumed this man was a police officer even though he wasn’t in a police car, and said: “He was wearing a white shirt with the epaulettes and underneath were some letters and numbers.”
She added that after she reported the incident to the local police, they immediately responded and told her it might not have been a police officer.
She said: “The police have been absolutely fantastic, and they did point out that he could be a more senior ranking, a security guard, but someone in authority.
“They came over they spent time with the girls and played scrabble, to give them a good impression of the police.”
Host Mclean then read out a statement from senior officers which said they were taking Jamelia’s complaint very seriously and added: “We are trying to find out who he is, we are looking at CCTV footage from the area.
“We do not tolerate racism whether in the community or in our force and the appropriate action will be taken.”
