According to , Tae-hyung said Big Hit Entertainment recommended three different stage names for him and decided on V because it represents "victory."
"My stage name was chosen last," V told the outlet.
"Six, Lex, V. Those three names were suggested but the members and PD all said that V fit me the best and so I picked V to stand for victory."
When did Tae-hyung join BTS?
In June, 2013, the pop star made his debut as a member of on Mnet's M Countdown with the track No More Dream from their debut album 2 Cool 4 Skool.
V contributed in the writing of various songs, including Fun Boyz, Run and Stigma.
