Gabby Allen defends decision to flee Tier 4 by jetting to Dubai as she reveals she’ll be working there for ‘foreseeable’
LOVE Island's Gabby Allen says she could not turn the 'opportunity' to stay in sunny Dubai as the Covid crisis worsens in the UK.
The former ITV2 star jetted off to the Middle Eastern city with her boyfriend Brandon Myers on December 7.
The couple of six months stayed at the exclusive five-star hotel FIVE Palm Jumeirah Dubai while enjoying the tropical weather.
Rather than travelling back to London and into Tier 4, Gabby and Brandon have decided to stay in Dubai "for the foreseeable".
Gabby penned a lengthy explanation on her Instagram stories defending her decision to stay there.
"Hey guys, just to let you know, we made the decision to fly out to Dubai as my boyfriend's business is based here & luckily allows us to travel," she wrote.
"We were both fit to travel with negative PCR tests [for COVID-19]. I wanted to come on here and acknowledge this to my followers as it was a difficult decision for me.
"I really hope you can understand that it was an opportunity I had to take."
She finished the post: "I will be working over here for the foreseeable until we decide what to do next. Sending so much love to you all. Gabby x."
The couple left for Dubai while London was in Tier 3, but the government advised against travelling internationally.
The government guidance states: "In a Tier 3 area, you should avoid travelling outside of your area. People should carefully consider whether they must travel abroad, and should follow the rules in their area."
However, the United Arab Emirates - Dubai's country - is on the UK's travel corridor list.
That means people travelling back to the UK from a country on the list do not have to self-isolate upon their return.
Gabby is one of many British reality stars flocking to Dubai to escape the cold winter.

Other stars to escaped to Dubai include Towie couple Yazmin Oukhello and James Lock, her nemesis Amber Turner, Hollyoaks' Jennifer Metcalfe, Bethan Kershaw, Towie's Georgia Harrison, Love Island's Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury, their BFF Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor, and Eve Gale.
She is also not the only star extending their stay in the Middle East, as Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry is also staying on for a while.
Chloe told fans she plans on staying in Dubai for "two months" and that she was "not coming home" from her holiday destination.
She explained: "I was supposed to be leaving in two days but I've decided I'm staying here for two months. I'm not leaving!"
