Naga Munchetty sparks fears she’s leaving BBC Breakfast for good as she says she’s ‘ready for new job’

NAGA Munchetty has sparked fears she will be leaving BBC Breakfast for good after admitting she is "ready" for her new job.

The popular BBC star has hosted the breakfast news programme for over seven years alongside Charlie Stayt and Dan Walker, but revealed in October she would be taking over from Emma Barnett on BBC Radio 5 Live.

On Sunday she shared a picture of her work bag, and revealed she had been preparing for her "first day in a new job".

"I've been sorting out my work bag & am ready to go back to the office... 1st day in a new job @bbc5live tomorrow," Naga posted.

"I get to work with a brilliant team and discuss stuff in our lives that matter with great guests and listeners. Can. Not. Wait. Hope you can join us."

Naga will be hosting the radio show from 10am to 1pm on Mondays to Wednesdays, and the BBC confirmed in October that she will keep her spot on the Breakfast sofa from Thursdays to Saturdays.

But her post came as a shock to fans, who praised her stint on the morning show.

"You were the highlight of @bbcbreakfast , incisive questions, challenging interviewees," wrote one fan as another added: "Will miss you on BBC Breakfast :-(. Good luck with the new venture."

Dermot O'Leary and Gethin Jones were among her celebrity pals to also send their best wishes.

In 2019 the Breakfast host was found to have breached BBC editorial guidelines by criticising President Donald Trump, but the decision sparked a furious backlash.

The ruling was ultimately overturned by the head of the BBC and three days later Naga returned to the red couch, with viewers overjoyed to see her.
