Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher teams up with Snow Patrol to boost solo relaunch
Singer gets Johnny McDaid on board despite slamming his band as 'Snore Patrol'
LIAM GALLAGHER is finally about to launch his big comeback.
And in doing so, the former OASIS frontman has been forced to eat humble pie by enlisting the help of JOHNNY McDAID from SNOW PATROL – the band Liam has previously slaughtered, labelling them “Snore Patrol”.
The Irish rockers, as well as brother Noel, have been the target of his now-standard trolling which usually occurs in the early hours of the morning when it dawns on Liam he’s no longer relevant.
But Johnny has clearly been won over by the Manc star’s furious back-peddling and agreed to assist his fledgling solo career and latest desperate money-making exercise, just like he’s done with ED SHEERAN and, more recently, HARRY STYLES.
I can’t picture Liam liking being associated with the two credible superstars.
A music insider said: “It’s all set to kick off with Liam, but this time it’s about the music.
“He’s actually been rather savvy, getting on board some established and well-respected writers, like Johnny, despite his negative views on Snow Patrol previously.
“Liam still has the support of the hardcore Oasis following who will be keen to buy his records.
“Whether or not he can still attract other music lovers will be down to his new material.”
Liam is also working with US star BRENDAN BENSON, who co-wrote tracks on JAKE BUGG’s second album.
But it’s the link with Snow Patrol which is the most surprising given the abuse he’s previously dished out.
After hearing Noel was going on tour with them in 2012, Liam tweeted: “Snore Patrol Noel Gallaghers high flying smurfs – who said rock n roll is dead. LG”.
Snow Patrol filled in for Oasis when they pulled out of headlining the V Festival in Essex in 2009 and then split.
Liam later tweeted: “Respect to those bands who covered Oasis last night, even though I might have given some of you s*** in the past.”
The singer has been forced to go solo after giving up on a money-spinning Oasis reunion.
Following the break-up of his last group BEADY EYE, in 2014, Liam hoped his first band would reunite for the 20th anniversary of debut album Definitely Maybe, but Noel isn’t interested.
He has said it would take over “ten million pounds” to work with Liam again.
Given Liam’s costly divorce from NICOLE APPLETON, I doubt Johnny is getting anywhere near that.
KEIRA'S STILL RIGHT ON THE MONEY
KEIRA KNIGHTLEY has enhanced her position as the major breadwinner in her marriage.
The actress has nearly £8million in her bank account, according to new figures. That’s almost 100 times more than hubby JAMES RIGHTON of THE KLAXONS whose company has just £88,000.
And Keira’s balance is only going to increase given recent form, as her KCK Boo company recorded profits of £7.7million, up £2.1million on last year.
The figures dwarf James’s company Galloping Faster, which manages income from his band.
Despite releasing Love Frequency, their first album for four years in 2014, the accounts which cover that period, show a profit of just £70,000 – which is shared between three band members.
It’s still a healthy sum but, thanks to what the Hollywood star pockets, James can have no qualms about Keira doing her food shopping in Waitrose.
No single ladies at Bey’s gig
A-LISTERS packed into Wembley to see BEYONCE performing the first of two nights at the London venue.
Husband JAY-Z watched on with fellow rapper KENDRICK LAMAR while VICTORIA BECKHAM, MADONNA, KENDALL JENNER and KIM KARDASHIAN all packed into the audience on Saturday.
Sadly the gig itself was a bit self-indulgent.
Beyonce, who later popped into London’s Harry’s Bar with Jay and WILL.I.AM, is an epic performer and looked bootylicious.
But she included hardly any hits in her set – and those she did only got one chorus.
There was no encore, no chat and no Single Ladies.
It was disappointing, but she is making a point.
Queen Bey can do what she wants.
Rocc ‘n’ roll-up
RITCHIE KID 1
ROCCO RITCHIE is in danger of getting his Netflix subscription taken away.
The aspiring filmmaker was spotted boozing on the Tube, which has been illegal since alcohol was banned across the London Underground in 2008.
We suspect his divorced parents, MADONNA and RocknRolla director GUY RITCHIE, might be having a word in his ear when they get wind of his latest night out.
The 15-year-old was snapped drinking tequila-flavoured beer Desperados – and he stood out a mile with his shaved head and alternative dress sense.
Not sure the “I was holding it for a mate” excuse will wash with Madge.
He’ll be praying that Papa Don’t Preach.
RICH KID2
AS TV’s Fresh Prince, if WILL SMITH had been caught smoking a suspicious-looking roll-up at the age of 17, Uncle Phil would have grounded him for weeks.
It will be interesting to see if Will applies the same punishment to son JADEN, after he was snapped smoking in a doorway in London’s Soho.
Maybe he was auditioning for the next Bad Boys sequel.
