Love Island’s Sophie ends lesbian romance with Katie just one day after coupling up
The star got cold feet after reading tweets and realised Tom is the man for her
SOPHIE Gradon has put an end to her romance with Katie – just one day after the new girl made the historic and bold move of coupling up with her.
The brunette beauty had a shock change of heart after reading a tweet about the way she had treated Tom during a task.
After threatening to leave the villa and realising she does in fact want to be with Tom, Sophie sat down with Katie and broke the news.
She told her: “I can’t go through with it Katie, Tom just means too much. I want to go to him. I want to leave and go and see him.
"One of those tweets saying that ‘Sophie slated Terry for what he did to Malin now she’s going to do the exact same thing’. If people are thinking that then what’s Tom thinking? I just want to go.”
Feeling like she’d taken a big chance on coupling up with Sophie, Katie was hurt by her sudden U-turn.
Katie told her: “I feel like I plucked up that courage, tried to be who I was for f*** all now.”
Sophie replied: “I just cannot risk losing Tom. I felt angry that everyone [in the villa] had voted for us and thought I’d do whatever it takes to get to the end. The thing is, when you’re in here you’ve got to have a genuine connection with someone.”

Saddened, Katie told Sophie: “I just wish you’d said this to me yesterday. I said to you ‘How do you feel’ because I didn’t want to make that decision when someone didn’t feel the same way. That was such a big thing for me to do, to come in here and make a decision based on the person I thought I’d have the best experience with.”
During the task Islanders were shown a series of tweets and had to insert the names of the people they thought the tweet was referring to.
One was: “Sophie slated Terry for doing what he done to Malin yet she’s going to do the exact same.”
The reality check hit Sophie hard and she admitted: “I’m struggling. I’m trying to get on with it but I’m really struggling with it. I’m having high moments and low moments. If I’m recoupled, that makes me think ‘What’s Tom gonna think?’”
Having realised how her coupling with Katie might have come across, Sophie continued to worry about how it could have affected her relationship with Tom.
As the situation all became too much for her, Sophie told the Islanders: “Right, that’s it for me. I’m done. Yeah, I’m going to ask [if I can leave]. I cannot do this, it’s just too much of a mind-f***. It’s not worth it. It’s not worth losing Tom over. I can’t lose Tom, I can’t.”
In the Beach Hut, Sophie said: “I need to be real and I miss Tom. Every day I’ve missed him. It’s not fair on Katie; I have immense feelings for someone else that aren’t just going to go in the next week. She’s genuinely attracted, she’s made that perfectly clear and I’m just not ready for that.”
She continued: “I’m not strong enough. I’ve been like this since [Tom] left. I know I’ve been picked up and happy but when I’m on me own I’m finding it so hard. Before Tom left he said ‘I love you’ and I said ‘I love you’ back. I just really want to give him a hug. It’s not fair to couple up with someone who’s potentially interested in taking things further. I don’t want to do something that I regret and ruin my relationship with Tom. I want him.”
