JLS star Oritse Williams fights back tears as he serenades his sick mum on TV

Pop star sang a special track he wrote in honour of MS sufferer Sonia

FORMER JLS star Oritse Williams fought back tears on TV today as he crooned a special song for his sick mother.

The pop star has been caring for mum Sonia, who sufferers from multiple sclerosis, since the age of 12 and he melted viewers’ hearts when he appeared with her on Good Morning Britain.

Oritse appeared on the show to express his thanks to the NHS staff who have helped his ailing mum other years.

He also debuted a song from his upcoming solo album which he wrote as a tribute to brave Sonia.

The track is titled Take Care of You, and Oritse stunned hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid by agreeing to belt out the song.

However, Oritse came close to breaking down in tears during his rendition of the moving ballad.

After singing the first few lines, he stopped and apologised for his emotional state, saying: “Wow, my emotions are going… I’m going to cry in a minute, sorry.”

Sonia suffers from multiple sclerosis

He bravely continued on with the song, and his voice shook with emotion as he battled through until the end.

After he finished, Sonia called the track “brilliant”.

During the TV appearance, the pop star described the years he spent caring for his sick mother, and described his song as an open letter to Sonia.

He explained: “I think it’s just one of those things when you love somebody so much you’d do anything for them.”

He almost broke down in tears

The emotional moment left many viewers in tears, and they took to Twitter to praise the singer and his mum for their bravery.

One viewer tweeted: “@Oritse @GMB @ITV @NHSEngland what a inspiration made me cry. Gave me back a bit of faith in human beings #treateachotherwith respect…”

Another added: “@Oritse @GMB @ITV @NHSEngland you’re a wonderful caring son and what a lovely mum you have. Had me in tears mate. God bless you….”

Sonia called her son’s track ‘brilliant’

Oritse is an ambassador for the MS Society and he has also taken part in documentary called Matron, Medicine And Me: 70 Years of the NHS in which he talks about how doctors have helped his mum.
