PIERS Morgan has furiously lashed out at the "morons" who have been bombarding Gemma Collins with death threats.

The Good Morning Britain host said he was shocked by the abuse spewed at the reality TV star when he announced she will be a guest on his ITV show Life Stories.

He said on today's breakfast show: "There's a moment in the show where I talk about the terrible trolling she's got.

"She's a reality TV star who plays up to her character. Very much like Katie Price. But no one should have to put up with people on Twitter spewing the kind of vile abuse and death threats she gets.

"When I announced she was on Life Stories out it poured, people saying 'I hope you die'."

Stunned Susanna Reid said: "What is wrong with people?"

Piers added: "There's no regulation. If we did that today, spending the next five minutes wishing people dead, we'd be taken off air.

"But nothing happens to these morons who abuse footballers or even Captain Tom. Gemma Collins should have to have people wishing her dead on a social platform.

"It's orchestrated. Who are the bosses behind this spewing this stuff?"

He later added: "She's very divisive, polarising, reality TV queen and you either love her or hate her.

"She's got millions of followers and millions of people who don't like her.

"It takes a lot to shock me now with trolling, because I get a lot of it myself, but the overt, horrible abuse that spilled out towards including her people directly wising her dead...

"There is no limit to this, no barrier to any of this. It's the wild west on social media with no accountability."

In a first look at Piers Morgan's Life Stories, Gemma is seen breaking down in tears over the vile hatred she's suffered online.

After watching her former Towie co-star Joey Essex describe the "terrifying" threats she receives, Gemma sobbed: "That was hard to watch. You don't forget it but that's the downside of fame. I'm a lot more comfortable now in my own skin."
