CHRIS Evans suffered another blow yesterday after Channel 4 axed his show TFI Friday.

The loudmouth DJ, 50, who quit Top Gear this week, was told it would not be recommissioned.

The show only relaunched in October after a 15-year gap.

A source said: “It’s not great news for Chris after losing Top Gear, but there isn’t the appetite to bring back TFI again.

“Chris is seen as a nightmare to deal with and I don’t think they want the hassle that comes with it.”

Showbiz pals James Corden and Danny Baker have tried to console the troubled star.

Evans learned this week that police are probing historic sex assault claims against him after receiving a complaint in May. And The Sun revealed that former Top Gear producer Lisa Clark quit in December after a row with him.

It was also claimed he had reduced several staff to tears.

But BBC chairman Rona Fairhead yesterday told the Culture, Media and Sport Committee she had received assurances from Director General Tony Hall there had been no bullying by Evans.

She said: “He gave me some specific assurance, no unprofessional behaviour, he was satisfied with that.”

Evans was spotted out enjoying a break yesterday as he joked with Corden, 37, and Baker, 59, outside a greasy spoon in London.
