Russell Crowe looks ready to reprise classic Gladiator role as he arms himself with sturdy wooden sword at Warwick Castle
The Hollywood star could be about to step back into his role as the lethal Maximus Decimus Meridius
COULD Russell Crowe be taking a stab at playing his famous Gladiator role of Maximus Decimus Meridius again?
The Hollywood star was spotted clutching a sword at the famous Warwick Castle.
But before fans get excited, he was armed with a wooden weapon and probably couldn’t “unleash hell” like he promises in the famous Ridley Scott movie.
He was also dressed in a casual tracksuit, a far cry from the ripped Maximus in his steel Gladiator armour.
So unfortunately it doesn’t look like he was filming Gladiator 2, as instead the actor was enjoying a day out with his family, and the sword he was carrying looked more playful than harmful
The avid tweeter, took to Twitter to share his excitement at being at the castle, saying: “@WarwickCastle what an excellent adventure for kids. Some great characters on the dungeon tour!”
The Hollywood star is currently filming The Mummy with fellow Hollywood star Tom Cruise, and is using his time in the UK to visit our historical sites.
Today he tweeted: “Where am I now?” with a picture of himself and snaps of a cathedral.
It appears the star is in Yorkshire, with the York minister tweeting: “Thank you for visiting :)”
Another fan said: “Definitely York. First photo is Millenium Bridge just down the road from where I used to work.”
The Australian hunk has been all of the British countryside this week and was also spotted in Stratford-upon-Avon.
The actor stopped off in the Shakespeare’s hometown to do some sightseeing with his son.
It’s believed Russell Crowe and his son visited The Bard’s Birthplace Trust where it’s reported they bought some toy swords from the gift shop, which could be the one he was spotted with at Warwick Castle.
