Abbey Clancy reveals her terror after coming face-to-face with burglars in her home
She was left traumatised after intruders broke in while her husband Peter Crouch was working in Paris
ABBEY Clancy has opened up for the first time about the terrifying moment she came face-to-face with two burglars who broke into her plush pad int the south of France.
The model and TV personality was in the villa with a pal at the time as her husband Peter Crouch was working as a Euro 2016 football pundit in Paris.
Abbey was woken up in the middle of the night by strange noises downstairs and when she and a pal went to investigate they discovered two men rifling through their belongings.
Abbey and her friend screamed and the intruders fled empty handed in Antibes almost a week ago.
Speaking about the burglary, Abbey told The Mirror: “I had these two massive guys in my room, they were right there in front of me. But I screamed so much I scared them away.
“It was absolutely terrifying, it was one of the worst things to happen.
“It was so awful. Things like this happen to people all the time.
“But when it actually happens to you, you can’t believe it.”
The couple's children, Sophia, five and one-year-old Liberty are believed to have been in the UK at the time.
Abbey, 30, was so shaken she returned to the UK the next day and has since carried out security checks on their family home and other properties they own.
Sources told us last week that Peter was "horrified" someone was able to break into their villa.
An insider said: “Abbey seemed quite traumatised. She can’t stop thinking about what could have happened to them if they hadn’t woken up or if the burglars had been armed.

“Peter has been commuting between Paris and Antibes, but he was in Paris at the time.
“He was horrified someone had broken into the villa and extremely relieved Abbey and her pals were okay.
"Luckily, Abbey was due to fly to the UK on Tuesday, so she didn’t have to stay in a villa where she would not have felt safe.”
Since returning to the UK, Abbey has attended the Ab Fab premiere and the Warner Music summer party but a close pal said she's still not herself.
They said: "Abbey has tried her best to put what happened behind her but it hasn’t been very easy to shake off and she has struggled.
“Discovering those men in a place that should have been secure is naturally going to make you feel a bit unsure and vulnerable. It was a really nasty shock for her.”
This wasn't the first time the couple have been burgled as back in 2011, Abbey was left "devastated" when burglars broke into their £4,5million mansion in Cheshire and stole Christmas presents and jewellery.
Back in 2006, Peter's former home was also ransacked and robbers made off with goods worth £200,000 including an Aston Martin car, football memorabilia, champagne and jewellery.
