‘She’s wonderful!’ Emma Watson praises new Hermione in Harry Potter play
The actress was emotional after meeting the adult Hermione
EMMA Watson is full of praise after meeting her “older self”, actress Noma Dumezweni, who plays the adult version of Hermione Granger, in J.K. Rowling’s play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The play is set 19 years into the future, and 22-year-old actress went to see it for the first time yesterday, and also took the opportunity to meet the cast.
She later posted on her Facebook page a rave review, and spoke about the profound effect that meeting Hermione so many years on had on her.
She wrote: “Yesterday I went to see the Cursed Child.
“I came in with no idea what to expect and it was AMAZING.
“Some things about the play were, I think, possibly even more beautiful than the films.
“Having seen it I felt more connected to Hermione and the stories than I have since Deathly Hallows came out, which was such a gift.”
She added: “Meeting Noma and seeing her on stage was like meeting my older self and have her tell me everything was going to be alright, which as you can imagine was immensely comforting (and emotional)!
“The cast and crew welcomed me like I was family and Noma was everything I could ever hope she would be. She’s wonderful.
“The music is beautiful… I could go on.”
Noma was quick to reciprocate Emma’s love, and tweeted aboput how “emotional” it was to meet her.
“It really was quite emotional to be in your company… And Thank you 4 your lovely self.
“We spoke of you with MAJOR respect.
“Blessings Dear @EmWatson and Thank You!”
