Cara De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey’s sweet romance wins the nation’s heart as they are crowned Love Island champions
Lovers have romanced their way to the £50,000 prize fund
CARA De La Hoyde and Nathan Massey have been crowned the victors of Love Island 2016.
The loved-up couple, who have remained an item throughout the show's entire run, beat out love rivals Alex and Olivia, warring couple Kady and Scott, and Adam and Katie to the £50,000 prize.
Cara and Nathan, who both hail from Essex, were the bookies favourite to take the crown after fans fell in love with watching the pair’s antics on the ITV2 hit show.
After viewers have fallen in love with their budding romance, odds for them to win were a staggering 1/5 – with Betway referring to their victory as a “foregone conclusion”.
They eventually were crowned the champion from a whopping 54% of the vote.
Caroline Flack then gave the pair the decision to split the money, or for one of them to go away with the entire pot - and to prove they were in it for love, they didn't hesitate to share the pot.
Cara, 26, who was handed the money and the decision to share it, said it was "the easiest decision" she could have made after falling head over heels with 24-year-old Nathan.
The pair, who had stayed together after being set up in the first episode, then ran to each other for a kiss and a cuddle to celebrate their win.
LATEST FROM Love Island
As the pair have got closer, Nathan let slip that he thought that Cara was his "soul mate" - even when he wasn't quite sure what one was.
In the final episode, the couple were seen discussing their lives away from the show - and even discussed having children together as the end of their time in the villa draws near.
In an emotional speech, Cara said to Nathan: "I never thought coming in here I'd meet someone as special as you, let alone walk in and find my soul mate on the first day."
"I've opened up to you about things that I never have before. I know some people think you don't have that side, but you do - that's my Nathan.
She then added: "I want to look back on this in thirty years time and show our grandchildren how we met and that we used to be banging.
"We've got this far, let's keep going on this crazy adventure - still making memories and let's one day have babies."
Hunk Nathan responded with a gushing poem as a tribute to his new found love.
The Sun Online exclusively revealed last week that raunchy Cara had a previous lucrative career on X-rated site PornHub.
She had previously admitted that she had gone full frontal for the camera, but "never open leg".
Cara also spoke of her previous career on a dirty chat line.
She said: "It was good, I used to enjoy it, I did it for about two years and started when I was 23.
"When I was younger it was amazing money."
Anyone who will be missing the Islanders after the show is over need not fret - they have already commissioned a new series for next year.
Next Sunday, Love Island: Heading Home will also track the first week of the finalists back in reality.
