CHANELLE Hayes opened up about the moment she discovered that her biological mother was murdered.
The TV personality gave made the emotional revelation during a candid appearance on Loose Women as she explained how her adopted parents, Christine and Harry Hayes, were forced to reveal the bad news to her.
Chanelle told the female panel: "I always grew up knowing I was adopted...but it was a sugar coated style of story."
She explained how her parents had tried to share as much information as they could while she was younger as she continued:"They [Chanelle's adopted parents] did a scrapbook for me with pictures of my mum and sisters."
However, the lack of information led to her becoming a rebellious teenager, which Chanelle admitted she regrets.
The reality star admitted: "I feel terrible about it. I put them through years of hell. I would run away, I would take vodka into school."
When Janet Street Porter asked if she had perhaps been 'blackmailing' her parents in order to find out the truth, Chanelle mused:"I suppose I was. 'It's not even your family why won't you tell me.' They always said I was too young to find out what happened. They put up a wall."
She continued: "I took loads of tablets, self-harm, suicide-like behaviour. I moved out and went to my friend's house. And finally they relented, and my mum came round and she told me everything."
Chanelle went onto explain that her birth mother Andrea Sinclair became a drug user after falling in with the wrong crowd and turned to prostitution to fund her addiction.
She gave birth to Chanelle while she was serving a sentence at Styal prison in Cheshire.
In 1988, when Chanelle was just a few months old, her mother left the children at home to enjoy a night out with a friend.
Chanelle explained: "She got locked in a flat with a man [Keith Pollard, a client]. She got strangled and had bits of her chopped off and he kept her there for days.
"I completely understand why they wanted to keep that from me. But at that point I did find out and it did shock me and made me feel sick, it felt like the weight was off of my shoulders."
Pollard was sentenced to life in prison and though he was due for parole in 2011, he remains behind bars.
