The Ukraine talent prepares to launch her own night, Stereo Piknik at Studio338
NASTIA is one of the most impressive new DJ talents to have emerged in recent years.
Hailing from Ukraine, she has quickly shot up through the ranks and is now a headline act in her own right. She has hosted her own radio show on KISS FM in Ukraine and spent five years working for celebrated Eastern European festival Kazantip, has played the likes of super cool Berlin club Club der Visionaere, massive festivals like Tomorrowland and Ibiza hotspots like Amnesia. Labels like All In Records and Nilla have released her music and now having played every club in Ukraine is breaking out into the world scene. As such, it also makes sense that she has recently started her own night, Stereo Piknik.
Stereo Piknik is a completely new brand of party that has been started with the initiative of one of London’s foremost clubs, Studio 338. “For me it’s an honour to work on it with their team, and it’s an opportunity for me to bring a bit of Eastern European taste and sound to the UK” says Nastia herself.
Known for sultry techno productions and selections, as well as real dexterity in the DJ booth and a great ability to read a crowd whether it is in a small basement or big outdoor festival stage, Nastia says of the London scene, “it is very international and tough, restless and with people who never get tired of partying. I play regularly here for the different parties with different sounds. The scene here is quite solid.”
She herself has been making beats for a decade, and in that time life and the music scene back home has changed a lot. “Our scene is moving all the time and I think now it’s in the best position and condition for dance music to grow.”
The first Stero Piknik event will be on July 23rd with some seriously heavyweight sets from Function to DJ Qu, Pearson Sound to Abelle who all line-up. “Half of them are friends,” says the top techno DJ of her bookings for this party. “Others are artists I am very much interested about but never had an opportunity to listen to.”
