Sheridan Smith spotted wearing special pendant dedicated to her cancer stricken dad as she puts on a brave face after West End return
The star wore the piece close to her heart as she greeted fans outside the stage door
SHERIDAN Smith kept her father Colin close to her heart as she wore a pendant with the words "My dad my hero" inscribed across it.
The pretty blonde has been on an emotional rollercoaster after revealing her father was suffering from cancer back in March.
But the Funny Girl star looked happy and healthy as she greeted fans waiting at the Savoy Theatre stage door.
Sheridan, 35, returned to the popular West End show last week after taking two months off to recover from "stress and exhaustion."
The Sun revealed growing concerns for the star in May when a performance of the show was cut short with audience members claiming she was drunk.
She prompted further concerns when she took to Twitter for a series of late night rants in which she insulted her critics and threatened to flee to America.
During her break she has been resting in plush country retreats and spending time with her sick father.
The Gavin & Stacey star tragically lost her brother Julian to cancer when she was just eight and opened up about it last year when she played breast cancer sufferer Lisa Lynch in heartbreaking TV drama The C Word.
She said at the time: “Of course I’ve been affected by my brother’s death… It makes me value life, cherish my loved ones and be grateful for every day I have with them.
“Cancer affects one in three of us and every single one of us either knows someone who has been affected by it or has experienced it first-hand. And yet it’s treated as a taboo subject.
“It’s a hideous disease and we need to try to fight it.”
