Superstar Adele says she’d like to learn how to write a novel during her next music break
Singer admits she likes to disappear but gets 'a bit bored after a while'
SHE has ten Grammys, eight Brits, an Oscar and a Golden Globe but there is one elite group ADELE is still desperate to join – the RICHARD AND JUDY Book Club.
The singer has revealed she is planning to write a book during her next break from music.
And I don’t just mean any old, ghost-written autobiography filled with childhood pictures.
Adele wants to become a proper novelist, penning her own work of fiction.
Discussing her future on stage in Chicago during her tour, she told fans: “I’d like to write a book.
“I mean, I’m not very great at stuff like that but I’d like to learn and try to write a book.
“Fiction.
“I don’t know what about yet.”
If Adele is plotting a romance novel for her debut, she has plenty of material to cram in.
But if not, I’ve come up with a few potential title suggestions.
The last time Adele took a break from music she disappeared off the face of the earth for three years.
I’m not very great at stuff like that but I’d like to learn and try to write a book
Adele
During that time she managed to write two albums, scrap one and have her son, Angelo, now three.
However, she has already revealed that she isn’t planning to have another child with her long-term partner SIMON KONECKI, meaning she’ll have plenty of time to get stuck in to writing the book.
Adele, who Instagrammed a picture of herself having a splashing time in Denver at the weekend, has already hinted at her need for a new project, saying: “My kid is starting school, hence why I’m so busy trying to get all my shows out of the way.
“I think I’ll have to quit my career in music and become a music teacher at my child’s school . . . not really!
“I do like to disappear but I get a bit bored after a while.”
Adele has 47 American dates left on her world tour but has already suggested she has plans to add several new shows in South Africa and Australia, so she’ll have to start chapter one on the plane.
If her album sales are anything to go by, her book is bound to be a best-seller.
RITA'S GHOST BUSTY
IF RITA ORA is trying to bag a part in the Ghostbusters sequel, she’s going the right way about it.
The singer looked the spit of one of the ghoul catchers in this blue jumpsuit, which she wore for a New York stroll at the weekend.
A new film role could do Rita good, as I’ve heard her appearance in the next Fifty Shades of Grey flick, Fifty Shades Darker, has been reduced.
The former X Factor judge, who was in the franchise’s first film, spent a lot of time in Vancouver recently filming her scenes.
Thankfully she has her new gig hosting TV show America’s Next Top Model to bump up her screen time.
A source said: “Rita is focusing on America’s Next Top Model for now as her Fifty Shades role is not as big as she thought it would be.”
Nothing will harm Rita’s career now.
JOHNNY'S MINI COOPER
THIS has to be one of my favourite showbiz snaps of the year.
It might look like a fan meet and greet but it’s actually Austin Powers star VERNE TROYER hanging out with JOHNNY DEPP and ALICE COOPER, bandmates in the HOLLYWOOD VAMPIRES, at a charity gig in Minnesota, US.
With Johnny fighting a messy divorce from AMBER HEARD, Verne actually managed to raise a smile from the actor.
As a keen supporter of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, Johnny also took to the stage to perform with his band.
TONY BLAIR was also in the audience. Thank goodness they didn’t get him up for a song.
HEAD-STONES
KEITH RICHARDS has overcome so many near-death experiences it would be no surprise if he was immortal.
But if he does ever meet his end, the ROLLING STONES guitarist has revealed he wants to share his final resting place with bandmate CHARLIE WATTS.
Discussing his after-life in the new edition of the Radio Times, Keith said: “I want to be buried next to Charlie Watts.”
He might want to run that idea past Charlie first – but it would certainly make a good tourist attraction.
Keith is Charlie’s No1 fan, as he revealed in a recent interview with The Sun’s Something For The Weekend.
He said of the drummer: “Charlie Watts is amazing, the hardest job in a band is drumming, the sheer power and subtlety of the man.
“I go up there just to be able to play with Charlie Watts, he’s an amazing man.
“My aim is to get as cool as Charlie.”
I hope MICK JAGGER and RONNIE WOOD don’t feel too left out.
NIC: HOT LIKE ME IN IBIZA
AFTER spending the month watching ear-shattering X Factor auditions, it’s no wonder NICOLE SCHERZINGER needed a good lie down.
The returning judge escaped to Ibiza after working on the new series, set to air in August, and uploaded this snap of herself in a red bikini and sprawled under the sun.
But after posting the pic to Instagram with the caption “#Ibiza take me away . . . ”, some suggested she had let slip her venue for the Judges’ Houses round.
Nicole has been given the Boys' category, just like in 2012 when she mentored JAMES ARTHUR, who went on to win the show.
She’ll be up against SIMON COWELL and the Girls, LOUIS WALSH and his Groups and SHARON OSBOURNE with the Over 25s.
Meanwhile, Nic’s namesake NICK GRIMSHAW, who she has replaced on the judging panel, debuted his new look yesterday after chopping off his hair.
Now there’s more on his chest than on his head.
DRIS-KY MOVE?
IDRIS ELBA is idolised in the UK for his acting but he is taking his passion for music elsewhere.
The Luther star is planning his own Brexit, by fleeing Britain for the US next year to further his DJ career.
Idris has told pals that he reckons he’ll be taken more seriously in the States.
A friend said: “British fans come to Idris’s gigs but all they want is a selfie, they don’t go for the music. Rather than Glastonbury next summer he will DJ at US festivals like Coachella and Burning Man.
“He also wants to do dates in South America.
“Even though he is a big name, when he is over there he can disappear into the crowd and enjoy it after he’s performed.”
It’s tough being a Hollywood A-lister.
CALVIN DATING TINASHE
CALVIN HARRIS has started seeing US singer TINASHE.
The pair were spotted looking cosy at posh restaurant Nobu in Malibu, California, on Saturday.
They first met working on the track Dollar Signs in 2014.
A US source said: “They stayed in touch and recently started hanging out again.
“It’s only been weeks so it’s still casual.”
Since he split from TAYLOR SWIFT, the DJ has had to put up with seeing pictures of Taylor and new man TOM HIDDLESTON.
But at least he’ll have some new date ideas for Tinashe.
Last week he went to war with Taylor after her reps confirmed she co-wrote his and RIHANNA’s song This Is What You Came For under a pseudonym.
She has now erased her alter-ego from the credits, putting in her real name – a hint more drama is on the way . . .
