‘I’ve definitely felt pressure to look a certain way!’ Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner admits body and fat shaming is ‘so terrible’
Sophie makes a stand against those making women feel insecure about their bodies
GAME of Thrones star Sophie Turner has spoken out against online trolls who body shame women in and out of the public eye, stating that, “No matter who you are on social media you are going to be scrutinised for your body type.”
The 20-year-old actress has joined forces with Huffington Post for their series Power Shift, which also features UFC fighter Rhonda Rousey and judo champion Aisling Daly, and aims to stop people shaming women for their weight and focus on healthy body types.
Sophie opened up about the pressure she has felt to maintain a certain physique, saying: “I’ve definitely felt pressure to look a certain way, especially in the industry I’m in.
“At the end of the day I totally agree with Ronda and Aisling - you just have to have a healthy body and be confident in that.”
She added that it’s not just famous women who are made to feel self-conscious about their bodies by others, those who aren’t in the limelight are as well.
