‘I don’t need anyone’: Gemma Atkinson embraces the single life after she splits from personal trainer boyfriend
The Emmerdale star said she’d rather have another dog than a new man
GEMMA Atkinson has said she has no plans of settling down again so soon after recently splitting from her boyfriend of two years.
The Emmerdale actress has spoken for the first time about her split from personal trainer Olly Foster but said she is happy to stay single for a while.
Speaking to the Sunday People, the 31-year-old said not only are her and Olly still good friends, but he is also still her personal trainer.
She said: “Sometimes there are people in your life and it’s just not working out the way you thought. We’ll always be in each other’s life but just as friends.
"We went on a road trip the other week together. Now I can’t get away with ditching sessions as he’s more strict with me. I’m happily single. I’ve got the dogs and lots going on professionally. It’s nice to be on my own for a bit.
“I have not even thought about dating. I will give it a few months. I’m one of those people who like their own company. I don’t need anyone.”
Gemma, who has dated footballers Marcus Bent and Cristiano Ronaldo, is currently in an on-screen romance with Marlon Dingle, played by Mark Charnock, and this week, fans of the soap will see him lock lips with her character Carly Hope.
And Gemma said Mark very nearly didn’t kiss her after she had eaten a spicy lunch just before filming.
She said: “I had this chilli chicken burger and Mark was eating a bag of crisps. I said to him he’d be starving and asked why he wasn’t eating a proper meal.
“He said: ‘Because I’m going to be kissing somebody this afternoon.’ I said sorry and offered him some of my food. I made sure I had some chewing gum.”
