Sigourney Weaver reveals plan to resurrect Ellen Ripley role from sci-fi horror franchise Alien
The actress says she has been working with Chappie director Neill Blomkamp on a film which gives "fans everything they are looking for"
SIGOURNEY WEAVER has revealed she is planning to reprise her role as Ellen Ripley nearly forty years on from first appearing in the cult sci-fi horror franchise Alien.
The actress, 66, appeared at Comic-Con in San Diego on Saturday, and told the audience she has been in talks with director Neill Blomkamp - they worked on Chappie together which was released last year.
Weaver was sitting on a panel for the 30th anniversary of the sequel Aliens and said: "Four months later, I got a script that was so amazing and gives the fans everything they are looking for - plus innovates in a lot of ways.
"(Blomkamp) has work to do, and I have work to do. I am hoping when we finish those jobs, we will circle back and start to do it."
Weaver first appeared as Ripley 37 years ago in the Ridley Scott directed film.
She was last seen in Alien: Resurrection, in 1997.
It was the fourth movie in the series and finished with a clone of her character arriving back on Earth.

Weaver added: “I had never wanted to do a fifth [movie]. I didn’t want to go to Earth because I thought Earth was boring.”
She had previously told : “It’s a great story and it’s satisfying to me to give this woman an ending."
Another issue, is Ridley Scott is working on Alien: Covenant, which is a prequel to the original 1979 “Alien” film that is a sequel to his 2012 film “Prometheus.”
