Journalist Andy West comes in 4th place in Big Brother 2016 finale
Housemate had a Big Brother first after being proposed to in the house
Andy West has left the Big Brother house in 4th place.
The former BBC journalist managed to avoid nearly every live eviction, being saved only during Annihilation week, where he given immunity by his other housemates.
During his time in the house, the star was accused of being patronising by his other housemates, but grew close with fellow finalist Jayne - with them both announcing they considered the other as their ‘best friend’ in a task on Monday evening.
On his final day in the house, he told his housemates that the experience was a "crazy, fantastic, surreal twist" in his life.
He later said to the Diary Room: "Thank you for getting me ready for the rest of my life in a funny way."
On his relationship with fellow finalist Jason, he said: "Jason is not an easy guy to shake, but there were times when it was testing my friendship a bit.
"But he'd earned my patience and he earned my friendship so I did it."
Andy was up against Jason Burrill, Jackson Blyton, Jayne Connery, Evelyn Ellis and Hughie Maughan as the final six after a gruelling 48 days in the Elstree compound.
In a Big Brother first, Andy was surprised by his boyfriend Ed as part of a shopping task, and promptly asked him to marry him.
But Ed was one step ahead of him and took the opportunity to produce a ring he brought into the house and getting down on one knee.
