Walford’s hard man is back!

HE was last seen, albeit very briefly, as he tearfully went to pay his respects to mum Peggy at her funeral.

But next week, Grant Mitchell returns to Albert Square – and his ex-wife Sharon is in for a shock.

In the aftermath of the death of Paul Coker, his lover Ben Mitchell goes missing, and his father Phil’s cirhossis of the liver gets worse.

So a desperate Sharon decides to reach out to Grant but is not prepared and gets a huge shock when she sees him.

The Mitchell family are in turmoil since Ben’s disappearance and Sharon reassures his mother and Phil’s ex-wife Kathy Beale that everything is under control.

She confides in her best mate Jane about her plans and contacts Grant, who has gone home to Portugal.

She then gets a message from him and goes to meet him, but is left unprepared when they come face-to-face.

Ross Kemp, who plays the Walford hardman, made a brief comeback to reprise his role for Peggy Mitchell’s cancer revelation scenes.

Missing from the funeral, he was briefly seen at the very end of the episode, crying in the cemetery and clutching a single red rose.

But it was always understood that he would be returning for a longer stint, after producers convinced him to stay for an extra three weeks filming.

 

And next Thursday, fans of the BBC soap will be in for a treat when he heads back to E20.

Ross shared a snap of him on set to Twitter and wrote: “All done on @bbceastenders #EastEnders. Sad to leave.”
