Is Denise Welch and Tim Healy’s son Louis set to tread the cobbles on Coronation Street?

Potential new star took a roadtrip with his mum to Weatherfield last Friday

MOST people go to drama school to get on a primetime soap but Coronation Street’s newest potential recruit didn’t need to leave home to learn the tricks of the trade.

I can reveal DENISE WELCH and TIM HEALY’s son LOUIS HEALY is in line to follow his famous parents with a role on the show.

Louis, whose parents played racy Rovers landlady Natalie Barnes and plumber Paul Jones over a decade ago, auditioned for a role in Weatherfield last Friday.

The teen was spotted with his mum at the ITV show’s studios in Manchester following an audition in front of the programme’s top casting directors.

And an insider revealed how Denise was unsurprisingly unable to control her excitement at the prospect of Louis following in her footsteps.

A source said: “Denise and Louis took a road trip up to Manchester in her Mini last week where he was seen by the show’s bosses for a new role.

“Louis felt his audition went really well and ever since their trip Denise just hasn’t been able to stop chatting about her son joining the soap.

“It’s a really big deal for Denise as obviously Corrie is a big part of her life having been on it between 1997 and 2000.

“As she’s just featured on EastEnders too she feels as though Louis will be continuing the family’s reign over soap land.

“It’s still not a done deal. But Louis felt like he gave it his all and is crossing everything.”

And Louis looks like the perfect choice for the show’s new producer KATE OATES – as his CV is crammed full with acting experience.

He appeared on Scott & Bailey alongside SURANNE JONES in 2011 and was also a star of the West End musical production of hit film The Full Monty.

Louis’ audition for a new role follows bosses plans to add an extra episode per week starting from late 2017.

Producers are hoping the signings of new cast members will help take the pressure off current Corrie stars.

They’ve got two more willing additions in mum and dad.
