Pop star Pixie’s new West End musical Breakfast at Tiffany’s has got the Lott
Singer plays Audrey Hepburn's character from 1960s classic
THIS production has all the joy of the 1961 movie with plenty of laughs thrown in for good measure.
In her West End acting debut, pop star Pixie Lott is a revelation in the lead as Holly Golightly, the slightly delusional girl-about-town who becomes the object of Fred’s infatuation.
There are moments of tenderness — a handful of songs scattered throughout the two-hour show which she sings accompanied by the gentle strum of a guitar.
At other times she is flirty and playful, flashing her legs while wearing a dressing gown and stripping off for a bath with Fred (Matt Barber) seconds before she is accosted by the police.
As opposed to the iconic film which starred Audrey Hepburn, and which is loved by so many, Fred is the narrator of the show.
But it is Holly, with her intense personality, who is the indisputable star.

Pixie handles the part with all the wit and charm it deserves and pulls off the intentionally muddled mix of American south, New York and English accents with ease.
With a modest cast of 12, the party scenes have a tendency to fall flat.
But the leading pair do enough all by themselves to transport the audience back to 1940s New York.
This musical won’t be Pixie’s last.
