Norah Morahan O'Donnell was born on January 23, 1974, in Washington, D.C.
She received her master's degree from Georgetown University in 2003.
Before receiving her degree, O'Donnell went to work for NBC at the age of 25.
She joined as the Washington Bureau correspondent and later became the network's White House correspondent.
After just two years of working in the White House, she became the Chief Correspondent until 2011 when she left NBC/MSNBC.
She then jumped networks and began working with CBS as their chief White House correspondent, but only stayed in that position for a year.
O'Donnell changed her role at the network, becoming more of an anchor than a correspondent.
She currently serves as the managing editor and anchor for CBS Evening News.
Since 2019 she has also served as the anchor for CBS Overnight News.

O'Donnell is married to Geoff Tracy, a restauranteur from New York.
The two met while studying at Georgetown University and later married in 2001.
