Details of the highly anticipated Disney remake announced
EMMA Stone is set to star as the villain, with Jez Butterworth penning the remake
DISNEY have been capitalising on the success of their biggest hits over recent years, with blockbusters Maleficent, The Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland raking in big bucks at the box office.
Unsurprisingly, it's set to continue with seven of the childhood classics set to be recreated by 2019, including a Mary Poppins sequel and a Beauty and the Beast remake.
But perhaps one of the most exciting remakes will be Cruella, based on the infamous villain from 101 Dalmatians.
This week details were announced about the upcoming movie - and Popcorn couldn't be more excited.
The big news is that Jez Butterworth has been hired to write the script, assisting lead writer Kelly Marcel on the project.
Butterworth has plenty of blockbuster experience under his belt, having used his scriptwriting expertise on dramas Spectre, Black Mass and Get On Up - so Cruella is sure to be another hit.
While the majority of the cast are yet to be revealed, actress Emma Stone has been cast to play the evil villain and she's an Executive Producer on the film too.
Glenn Close, who played Cruella de Vil in the 1996 original, will be pairing up with the star as another Executive Producer on the project. And with her experience, we have a good feeling about the film.
