Scarlett Moffatt talks Boris Johnson and takes a hilarious swipe at Katie Hopkins on Gogglebox Brexit special

SCARLETT Moffatt took a hilarious swipe at Katie Hopkins on the Gogglebox Brexit special on Wednesday night.

The telly addict said Theresa May making Boris Johnson Foreign Secretary was "absolute madness" and compared it to "making Katie Hopkins the motivational speaker at a Weight Watchers' convention".

The standout star of the Channel 4 show had a few witty quips throughout the episode including scoffing at the disastrous launch of Angela Eagle's bid for the Labour leadership saying: "Angela Eagle?! I'd rather have Eddie the Eagle!"

Scarlett's mum Betty wasn't impressed by Boris saying: "Look at what a scruffy mess. Look at the state of him, man."

Meanwhile, Scarlett also confessed that she didn't vote in the EU referendum.

She said she was away on the day and didn't bother registering for a postal vote as she didn't know which way to vote.

She said: "No, now I did [register] but then it came to it – I didn’t know if I wanted to be in or out.

"I thought, I don’t want to just vote on a whim, because I don’t want in a week’s time to be like, 'I should have voted that'. So I thought it’s best if I don’t vote."

Betty said: "That’s the worst one if you don’t vote."

Her dad Mark said: "If you don’t vote you can’t complain.

"You’re part of the 28% who didn’t vote. That 28% could have made a difference."

Scarlett defended herself saying: "My heart wasn't 'in' or 'out'."

Elsewhere, Reverand Kate was also didn't hold back about Boris and David Cameron saying: "I think Boris changed to leave because he only wanted to go against whatever David Cameron was saying.

"It's just a big popularity contest for them. They haven't moved on since they were at school together. It's all just willy wangling."

George Gilbey was outraged when Cameron resigned as PM after losing the EU referendum.

He said: "He ain’t resigning. He’s getting out the back door before the s**t hits the fan. Cos he ain’t got no plan!"

Sandy was also shocked by the result asking "What's the plan? with Sandra replying: "There ain't one".

The episode also concluded with a touching tribute to Caroline Aherne, who lost her battle with throat cancer aged 52 last month.

The comedian was the narrator of the hit show and tonight’s episode was dedicated to her memory.

The touching message read: "In loving memory of Caroline Aherne” and was followed by the Oasis song Half The World Away which was always played at the end of her show The Royle Family.
