Love Island new boy Danny’s dad apologises for son’s n-word post and insists ‘he’s not racist but this was a mistake’

THE dad of Love Island new boy Danny has apologised for his son's n-word post and insisted "he's not racist but this was a mistake".

The 25-year-old plumber has already been embroiled in a race row after using the n-word in a social media post.

Fans are asking for Danny to be removed from the villa, despite not having entered yet.

Now Danny's dad, Ricky, has defended his son, insisting he "doesn't have a racist bone in his body".

Ricky said: "Danny does not have a racist bone in his body and there were no racist intentions to this post.

"Although it was not done maliciously, it was a mistake. I absolutely apologise on his behalf for the offence this wording may have caused. That would never have been his intention."

He also showed his support in the comments of Danny's Instagram, writing: "Daddy loves you son xxx smash it."

This comes as eagle-eyed fans combed through his Instagram and found the comment.

In a photo of Danny posing in a bold leaf-patterned shirt while on holiday, a friend commented: "Champ" and a fist-bump emoji.

Danny replied: "My n****".

The exchange happened in November 2019, when he was 23 years old.

Spotting the use of the offensive slur, a Love Island fan added last night: "I would take this down".

Whoever is running Danny's account quickly did just that - initially deleting the comment, before removing the post entirely.

However, a similar image that the new Islander had posted remains live, and has been flooded with comments from horrified Love Island viewers.
