A huge explosion is set to tear the cobbles apart later this year... but who will survive?

CORONATION Street’s Samia Ghadie has confessed to breaking down on set as she filmed an emotional goodbye to a much loved member of cast this week.

The actress, 34, has revealed the huge departure, which is set to send shock waves across the cobbles, has involved some of the saddest scenes she’s ever filmed.

In her latest blog for , she revealed: “It's been great fun filming, but this week I've been recording some of THE saddest scenes I've ever done in my 17 years at Corrie.

“When I first read the scripts I was in tears so getting to film them has just sent me off.

"You may need your tissues when they air. And we say a sad goodbye to a well-loved member of the cast.”

Leaving fans guessing which star is set to meet a gruesome end, her confession comes after we exclusively revealed an explosion is set to tear the Street apart later this year.

An inside source tells us: “This is going to be up there with some of the best scenes in Corrie history.

“Characters are going to be crawling through flames to escape, and there’s talk of killing at least one character.”

The explosion will be the first major incident being put together by new Corrie boss KATE OATES, who is well-known for her love for budget-blowing stunts.

And to assist her with the fireball she is drafting in director TONY PRESCOTT – the brains behind all of Corrie and Emmerdale’s live episode specials.

Our source adds: “The plans being put together are huge and Kate bringing in Tony shows that it’s going to be far from a straightforward one.

“Tony is considered one of the big guns of directing because he’s great with complicated and intense storylines.

“Kate also loves a big stunt.

“She was behind the helicopter crash on Emmerdale which killed off Ruby Haswell.

“It’s going to be carnage.”
