Viewers outraged as Olympics presenter Helen Skelton covers up following accusations her outfits are too sexy
Former Blue Peter star opted for a prim outfit which covered her legs amid furore over her short skirts
FANS have called on Olympics presenter Helen Skelton to go back to wearing short skirts after she ditched her sexy outfits amid criticism of the length of her hemlines.
The blonde beauty came under fire last week when she exposed her thighs in a daring black number during coverage of the games in Brazil, but she now appears to have had a wardrobe makeover.
She appeared onscreen last night wearing long navy blue dress, which kept her legs covered, and fans have since taken to Twitter to complain about the style change.
One declared they would be boycotting the rest of the Rio Olympics coverage until Helen's short skirts are reinstated.
The viewer wrote: "If we're not going to get a flash of Helen Skelton's knicks out of all this it's hardly worth watching the Olympics."
Some have suggested the outfit change may have been ordered by BBC bosses to keep the coverage more conservative.
One tweeted: "BBC producers craven idiots making Helen Skelton wear ridiculously long dresses to pander to a few misogynists."
Another wrote: "Who @BBCSport has told@Helen Skelton to dress more conservatively, she looks far better when she wears what she wants brill atjob #bbcrio2016...
Many have thrown their support behind Helen and insisted she should be allowed to wear sexy outfits if she wants.
One even made a cheeky comment suggesting she had "borrowed one of her grandma's dresses" following the controversy.
The viewer tweeted: "All this fuss about #HelenSkelton and her skimpy dresses must have upset her..
"She is wearing one of her grandma's outfits tonight. #Olympics..."
Another suggested Helen should not let criticism from "fuddy duddies" change the way she dresses.
They wrote: "@HelenSkelton I notice since controversy that your dress length has grown.
"Ignore the old fuddy duddies & wear what you want."
One added: "Don't let the critics make you cover up your legs. It's good to see an attractive young lady as a presenter..."
There was one female viewer who stepped up the campaign to bring back Helen's higher hemlines by wearing her own short shirt to work and tweeting her support for the presenter.
She wrote: "I'm doing a #HelenSkelton and wearing a short skirt to work. Truly remarkable, I'm still able to do my job #whoknew..."
Several other viewers simply expressed their disappointment about Helen's new prim look, with one writing: "????no legs on show".
Another added: "@HelenSkelton come on Hels lift that dress up above your knees ????"
