Darth Vader's Star Wars return has officially been confirmed in a new trailer.
The Sith Lord, voiced by James Earl Jones, makes a very brief appearance at the end of a two-minute trailer for the upcoming new movie, 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story', in which he is doing his usual heavy breathing.
In the clip for the upcoming film, the first 'Star Wars' spin-off, Rebel Pilots are seen in shackles, while fans also get a glimpse of a Star Destroyer, huge robot K-2SO, AT-ATs in battle and the Death Star.
Leading lady Felicity Jones features heavily in the trailer as Rebellion fighter Jyn Erso, who defiantly declares: "This is our chance to make a real difference."
The trailer aired in the US during NBC's coverage of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games last night.
'Rogue One', which is released in December, tells the story of resistance fighters who have come together to steal plans to the Death Star.
The forthcoming film takes place around 19 years after 2005 motion picture 'Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith' but before 'Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope', which was the first 'Star Wars' movie released in 1977.
Vader was expected to make an appearance in the motion picture as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy recently admitted Jones will reprise his role for the project.
She said: "I think we can talk about Vader...
"He will be in the movie sparingly. But at a key, strategic moment, he's going to loom large."
Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn Donnie Yen, Jiang Wen, Forest Whitaker, Mads Mikkelsen and Alan Tudyk will also star in the movie, which is directed by Gareth Edwards.
