Hugh Grant fails to recognise his former Bridget Jones co-star Renée Zellweger and says he’s “never seen her before”
BRIDGET Jones didn’t mean much to his womaniser character Daniel Cleaver, but actress Renée Zellweger clearly meant even less to Hugh Grant.
Despite playing one of her two love interests in the 2001 rom-com, he failed to even recognise her when shown pics of the leading ladies he has starred opposite.
The smarmy actor made the embarrassing blunder on US telly on Thursday night following comments about Renée’s changing appearance.
Faced with images of six leading ladies, he said: “Who is the one second from the right? Because I’ve never seen her before in my life.”
Hugh hasn’t featured opposite her in a film since the 2004 sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason.
But don’t expect to see him return for the third instalment Bridget Jones’s Baby next month, as he thought he was far too good to take part.

He explained: “I’m particularly difficult and Queeny when it comes to scripts, and I couldn’t quite make the script work for me so they then made it without me, and that’s brilliant.”
Difficult and Queeny? You said it, Hugh.
James takes the mic
JAMES CORDEN’s career in the US is going from strength to strength – as he’s now bagged a second spin-off series from The Late Late Show.
Earlier this year it was revealed Apple Music had bought the rights to a programme based on his viral sensation Carpool Karaoke.
And now his rap battle segment Drop The Mic has been snapped up, with TBS ordering a 16-episode run to air in 2017.
It will feature four celebrities spitting rhymes at each other, with the studio audience voting for the winner.
I hope James has got some new ideas up his sleeve.

FRIENDLY exes BILLIE PIPER and CHRIS EVANS surprised US star JONAH HILL by revealing they used to be married in the middle of a live interview.
The Jump Street actor joined Billie on Chris’ Radio 2 breakfast show yesterday – and was amazed when they revealed their history together.
After Chris said, “We used to be married”, Jonah replied in disbelief, saying: “No you didn’t, really? Are you serious?
“I had no idea! That’s pretty shocking. It’s nice that you two can hang out. It’s beautiful.”
Poor Jonah probably felt like a third wheel.
